Frequently Asked Questions About the Rapture

Q: Is the word Rapture in the Bible?

Posted by Bear Ian on January 13, 2017

Yes: If you read the Latin Vulgate, the word is ‘rapio’ which translated from the Greek word ‘harpazo’ in the original language that the New Testament was written in.

The English translation of either rapio or harpazo is usally “caught up”, “plucked out” or “snatched out”.

If you’re asking if the word ‘Rapture’ is in the English Bible then the answer is ‘NO’.

Q: Why Does the Rapture Happen?

Posted by Bear Ian on October 29, 2016

The Rapture is a picture of Jesus / Yeshua the Groom, coming for His bride the Church (all who believe in Him).

By taking his betrothed away, the Church is spared from the judgement and tribulation about to fall on the entire planet.

Q: When is the Rapture?

Posted by Bear Ian on October 29, 2016

The most commonly accepted belief is that we may know the signs of the times, but nobody knows the ‘day or the hour’.

However, as discussed elsewhere on this website, in the Last Days knowledge will increase, and understanding of some biblical prophecies has literally been ‘sealed up’ until the time of the end.   You can read more on this site about the pattern Jesus set by fulfilling the Spring Jewish Feast Days to the very day, and the expectation by many that He will continue with the pattern He set by fulfilling the Fall Jewish Feast Days to the day, beginning with the Feast of Trumpets.  The integrity of the Bible verses which state that “no man knows the day or the hour” are maintained.  While there have been many failed attempts to use odd calculations and spans of dates found in the Bible to predict the day of the Rapture nothing has compared to the discussions in prophecy circles about the astronomical alignment  referred to as the Revelation 12 Sign which happened on September 23, 2017, which just also just happened to coincide with the Feast of Trumpets.

Q: Who Gets Raptured?

Posted by Bear Ian on October 29, 2016

Faith in Jesus Christ / Yeshua is the only requirement to be included in the Rapture, whether one is dead or alive. If you haven’t already put your trust in Jesus, there’s no time like the present. You can’t save your self, like all of us, you need a Savior and there is only one.

Q: Is the Rapture Biblical?

Posted by Bear Ian on October 29, 2016

Yes, of course the Rapture is biblical.  It’s hard to understand how anyone who really reads and studies the Bible could make claims to the contrary.

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
  • John 14:3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
  • Matthew 24:30-31
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality
  • Philippians 3:20-21
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,  who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
  • Mark 13:32
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
  • Revelation 3:10
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.
  • Daniel 12:1-2
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
    The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
    Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
    Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
  • Luke 17:34-37
I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?”

So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”

  • Revelation 3:3
Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
  • Titus 2:13
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:19
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?
  • Matthew 25:1-13
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’  Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’  But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Q: What is the Rapture?

Posted by Bear Ian on October 29, 2016

The Rapture is an event where believers in Christ Jesus / Yeshua, whether they are dead or alive,  are saved from having to experience the impending 7 years of Tribulation about to befall on the planet by joining Jesus and going to Heaven for a period of about 7 years.  The allegory is that of a groom (Yeshua) coming for His bride (the Church).

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.a]”>[a]

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
